Pike season has started - Slide Swimmer Shudder Tail wins

In anticipation of the opening of the Pike season, we wanted to recommend a particular swimbait that is extremely versatile, produced by Deps, a Factory Tuned model with limited production, which has recently made a lot of noise thanks to the incredible results, both in terms of number of catches and size of the fish caught, achieved by our staff during their recent trip to Ireland.

We are talking about the Deps Slide Swimmer Shudder Tail 175 (length 185 mm with weight of 3 oz) and 250 (length 255 mm with weight of 6.5 oz).

Apparently similar to the traditional model, this version inherits all the main features but differs in the shape of the tail, having a type called "Vortex Tail" (the most famous example of which are Huddleston swimbaits). This particular shape completely changes the classic S-shaped swim that a glide bait like the Slide Swimmer has. In fact, by resisting the water, it produces a tight wagging that does not only involve the rear section but also generates a wobbling action of the front section as well. This unexpected swim proves to be extremely natural and suitable for clear water conditions or high fishing pressure.

After extensive use, we have been able to identify the strengths of this swimbait for pike fishing:

  • The unique movement of this model imitates that of some soft swimbaits but with the advantage of being much more resistant to the sharp teeth of pike and emitting fewer vibrations, which in some cases can be counterproductive.
  • Faithfully imitating an isolated fish swimming undisturbed, it also pushes the most cunning pike to violently attack the bait.
  • Its incredible stability with extremely slow retrieves allows it to be a real trump card in situations where pike chase the bait for a long time before attacking it, and it also manages to perfectly maintain its balance when the retrieve is accelerated, perfect when pike prefer this type of presentation.
