The famous MUTHOS Sonio, perfected over time through the experience of countless anglers since its debut, now evolves into its flagship model: the MUTHOS Sonio Type R.

TORAYCA® long-fiber high-strength carbon from Toray Industries is processed through a special molding technique, creating an extremely solid and stable structure. Even large reels are held perfectly in place, with no play or vibration.
The surface of the structure is coated with a special rubber material that provides a completely new feeling of comfort during use. The rod action is smooth and natural, requiring no unnecessary effort.
Like the Hexagon Grip, the reel seat also adopts a hexagonal shape designed to eliminate lateral movement of the reel and transfer power without loss. This helps reduce hand fatigue—often the first limiting factor in prolonged battles—increasing the chances of success with large fish.
In the reel foot support area, there is also a special rubber insert that prevents the reel from loosening even without excessive tightening, eliminating vibrations and unwanted movement even in the most demanding fishing conditions. Rod and reel thus become a perfectly integrated single system.

Reel compatibility
The Hexagon Reel Seat is compatible with current Daiwa and Shimano models.
No tests have been conducted with reels from other brands; therefore, it is not possible to guarantee the absence of damage to the reel seat or the reel itself, due to possible differences in reel foot size and shape.
Even with Daiwa and Shimano reels, incorrect insertion of the reel foot may cause damage to the reel seat or the reel itself.

The guide layout has been completely redesigned to achieve perfect synergy with the action of the MUTHOS Sonio blank.
The butt guide uses a T-RVSG20H: its small-diameter ring immediately controls line loops, while the narrow-profile multi-guide layout minimizes line oscillation during casting.
Great attention has also been given to the total number of guides and their spacing, improving tip section responsiveness and enabling more precise and direct lure control.
