Great Hunting was a true pioneer in the world of trout fishing.
In the early 1990s, the Great Hunting series revolutionized the Japanese trout fishing market with the introduction of the iconic X-70 Trout, at the time the world’s slimmest trout minnow equipped with a weight-transfer system, followed by the X-55 Trout, the first injection-molded trout minnow under 60 mm ever created.
These lures were specifically developed to target Japan’s native salmonids, such as the masu salmon of the Tenryu River, along with char and amago trout hidden within the mountain streams of central Japan.
This relentless and deeply dedicated pursuit quickly captured the hearts of native trout enthusiasts, fueling the origins of modern Japanese trout lure fishing — a discipline that continues to evolve and grow to this day.
More than a quarter of a century after its birth, the Mountain Stream Edition continues to pursue the authentic Great Hunting philosophy at an even higher level.
